karenandcat.jpg - 17685 BytesWendy Dek started veterinary nursing in May 1976 in Newcastle, Australia in a multi - peron mixed practice, which was a dream come true because all she ever wanted to do was wotk with animals. Her parents were always very patient when she brought home stray animals and as she grew up, apart from numerous dogs and cats, she also kept quinea pigs, rabbits, and horses. Wendy moved to Canberra, Australia in August 1986 to become head nurse at a small animal practice where she remained for 4 years before accepting the postion of head nurse and practice manager at a small animal practice in Queanbeyan, Australia. She remained in this postition for 10 years. She completed her qualifications in November 1994 and was in the forefront of developing the Australian Veterinary Nurses Association. Her interests outside of work at that stage were committee work for the RSPCA, community based volunteer work for the ACT Emergency Services and instructing dog obedience classes. She also introduced "Flyball" to Australian dog owners (with the help of lots of other people) after teaching the sport to her Doberman "Jedda" (deceased). Because of this interest, she became one of the first accredited "Flyball" judges in Australia.

She is now our head nurse and resident trainer. She conducts our Puppy Pre-schools and Basic obedience classes. Private lessons are also available on request.

These days, outside of work, Wendy works for an organization called "Paws with a Cause" a not for profit organization that trains Service dogs, hearing alert dogs and seizure response dogs. Her husband came to Dallas in August 2000 and Wendy joined him here in March 2001.
